Brunello di Montalcino is the supreme oenological expression of a land that for centuries has boasted of great wine traditions. Already appreciated in past centuries, oenological production remained faithful to the now established canons of the Tuscan tradition, and it was only at the end of the last century that the first experiments aimed at enhancing, exalting, the characteristics of a raw material and a medium undoubtedly particular. At the oenological level, Brunello was born around the middle of the XIX century thanks to some winemakers in the area, who, through the clonal selection of the Sangiovese grape, obtained a high quality product, a wine indicated for a long aging. However, it is only during these last decades, in parallel with the grant of the DOCG (it is the first Italian wine to have obtained it in 1980), that the Brunello production recorded a definitive qualitative evolution. and generalized, followed by a constant affirmation of notoriety and image throughout the world.
